Timbuktu allows people to discover and design their own safari across Africa, Latin America and Asia. We inspire people to leave their comfort zone and travel to some of the world's most exotic and wildest places!

We are looking for a Front end engineer to join us on our mission to build a revolutionary platform that enables people to easily explore and build their own trips to the world’s far-flung places. You would be responsible for making that experience richer, deeper and more inspiring than ever before.


Ideally you would have a natural feel for abstraction and elegant code structures. You’d soak up new knowledge like a sponge and be excited about being productive. It is an ideal opportunity to hone your craft while working directly with the co-founder and CTO, on a modern tech stack and systems.

Your role will include:

  • You will translate high fidelity mockups from our designers into beautiful, responsive, and robust HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

  • Build efficient and reusable front-end systems and abstractions

  • Use modern technologies to build a single page application that can run in a browser, on the server, or in an app on your phone 

  • Work with other engineers to build features and ship experiments 

  • Helping to shape the Timbuktu tech culture

Who you might be:

  • Passionate about developing beautiful web experiences, and have an amazing attention to detail.

  • Accomplished at styling and layout (SASS or CSS / HTML) to make a beautiful and performant front end

  • Thorough understanding of Javascript, its async nature and how to build dynamic, ambitious applications in the browser

  • Git branches and PR’s 

  • You have at least 3 years of Web development experience.

  • Experience in building a single page web application

  • You are open to new technologies. We are constantly experimenting, and so should you.

  • Understanding of cross browser compatibility in modern browsers and client-side performance considerations 

  • You embrace change and love working with people. Being able to communicate challenges and find solutions on your feet is a must.

  • Demonstrated design and UX sensibilities 

  • You love travel and want to make exploring the world easier for everyone.What's in it for you?
